The Adult Waiver program is the final component of the state-mandated driver education program for eligible drivers 18 and older. It allows eligible drivers to waive the state requirement of holding a learner's permit for 60 days and taking the road test at the DMV.

The Adult Waiver program is an "evaluation" course; it is NOT designed to teach students how to drive. Students will be evaluated on their driving skills, including stopping and starting, steering, backing up, parking, lane changes, merging with traffic, navigating curves and intersections, and overall driving ability. Students should be prepared to properly identify road signs, signals, and markings while safely navigating rural roads, city streets, and local highways. 

The Adult Waiver Program includes:

• Seven behind-the-wheel sessions, including driving and observation
• Each session lasts for approximately 1 hr. 40 mins 

Instructors will teach and provide techniques and skills to improve driver safety and confidence when behind the wheel. Students who successfully complete the AW-BTW course will be issued the AW certificate (DTSD). This is NOT a license. Students must submit the certificate to the DMV for licensing.  Safe Road Driving Academy will submit your paperwork to the DMV at the conclusion of the course.  The DMV will then process your license and mail it to you within 7-14 days.

A learner's permit and proof of driver education class completion (DEC or DTS36) are required to register and schedule driving lessons.

Private lessons are designed to help new drivers start off on the right foot and learn how to operate a motor vehicle safely. Each session is 60 minutes and tailored to the students needs. Everything from instrument recognition to highway driving can be covered. Our goal is to prepare you to be a safe driver while gaining confidence and becoming comfortable behind-the-wheel. Pick-up and drop-off within our service area is included. Once your account is activated, one of our highly qualified certified instructors will reach out to you for scheduling.

A license or learner's permit is required to register and schedule driving lessons.
